Pinewood Toronto Studios, a part of the Pinewood Group, has dedicated one of its sound stages as “The Star Trek Stage” in honor of the franchise’s enduring connection to the studio. This announcement coincides with the release of the fifth and final season of Star Trek: Discovery, a production by CBS Studios currently available for streaming on Paramount+ in the US and Canada.
The newly named stage spans 18,000 square feet at Pinewood Toronto Studios and was christened during the filming of the final scenes of the last season. Since January 2017, Star Trek: Discovery has been predominantly filmed at the downtown Toronto location, utilizing various stages such as the Mega Stage, Stage 7, 9, and 12, along with production facilities and workshops.
In this concluding season, viewers can expect Captain Burnham and the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery to embark on a galactic quest to unravel a hidden ancient power, all while facing formidable adversaries vying for the same enigmatic prize.
Alex Kurtzman, the Executive Producer overseeing the Star Trek series, expressed gratitude towards Pinewood Toronto Studios for their unwavering support, emphasizing the studio’s significance as a vital component of the Star Trek family. Sarah Farrell, General Manager of Pinewood Toronto Studios, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the fruitful collaboration that has spanned over five seasons of Star Trek: Discovery and the recent Star Trek: Section 31 movie event. The future looks bright as Pinewood Toronto Studios eagerly anticipates hosting more diverse productions in the years to come.
